Art Fair
Caelis Galería at JINGART 2023 Beijing
Caelis Galería was honored to participate in JINGART 2023 Beijing, held from June 1–4 at the historic Beijing Exhibition Center. This marked the gallery’s debut at one of China’s most anticipated annual art fairs, joining a distinguished roster of 54 galleries from 11 countries and regions.
A New Chapter for Caelis in Beijing
This year’s JINGART marked a significant milestone for Caelis Galería as we brought our curated selection of contemporary artists to Beijing’s vibrant art scene for the first time. The fair, organized by the team behind the acclaimed ART021 Shanghai, has established itself as a key platform for bridging East and West in the contemporary art market.
Caelis Galería’s booth presented works by several of our represented artists, showcasing the breadth and depth of our program — from the figurative and fantastical to the abstract and conceptual. The selection reflected our ongoing commitment to promoting artists whose work transcends cultural boundaries, creating dialogue between diverse artistic traditions.
Highlights from the Fair
JINGART 2023 brought together an impressive array of galleries, from established international names like Lisson Gallery, David Zwirner, and Shanghart to emerging spaces and first-time participants. The fair’s “立足本土,放眼全球” (Rooted Locally, Looking Globally) philosophy was evident throughout, with strong representation from galleries in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and the Greater Bay Area alongside leading Western galleries.
The public program featured three major installations, including a monumental work by Tobias Rehberger presented by Galleria Continua, and a striking mixed-media sculpture by Li Hongwei from Taihe Art Space. Special projects included the 2022–2023 Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the Year” Nominees’ Exhibition, presented in collaboration with the Cc Foundation.
Caelis Galería’s Vision
Our participation in JINGART 2023 underscores Caelis Galería’s commitment to engaging with the broader Asian art community. Founded by Jose Ignacio R. Caparros (Jirco) and Vanessa Fang in 2014, Caelis has built a reputation for discovering and nurturing talent at the intersection of contemporary surrealism and pop art, working with artists from over 15 countries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
As we look ahead, JINGART remains an important touchstone for connecting with collectors, institutions, and fellow galleries across China and beyond.
