About the Work

The work continues August’s highly personal artistic language, leaving the control of the brush to intuitive drive, creating a dramatic tension with the delicate brushstrokes. Multiple layers of translucent oil paint and hazy glowing treatments add a deep, dreamy emotional layer, leaving a sense of tranquillity in the aftermath.

Unlike previous works, “The Poet Girl” presents a more profound background with a smoky, feathery foreground, injecting a sense of melancholy that emerges from the disappearance of a distant dream. The textures of the amber structure add a sense of contemplation to the eyes, and the tresses that conceal the underside of the face subtly conceal the emotions. It suspends precise narrative threads and fixed references, offering a lingering space for associations.
